Cookie Policy
Last updated 10 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Prohibition Partners (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on prohibitionpartners.com, what each one does, and how you control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Some are set by us (“first-party” cookies); others are set by services we use, such as Google Analytics (“third-party” cookies). Browsers also offer local storage, which works in a similar way but is never sent to a server. We describe both below.
How we ask for your consent
The first time you visit, a banner offers three choices: Accept all, Reject non-essential, or Preferences, where analytics and marketing can be switched on or off separately. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie called pp-consent for 12 months so we do not ask again.
Until you choose, every non-essential tag on the site is held with consent set to “denied”, using Google’s Consent Mode. Nothing in the analytics or marketing categories is stored on your device before you decide. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer of every page.
Rejecting non-essential cookies does not limit the site. Every page, download and purchase works the same way.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary — always on
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They store no marketing or analytics information.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
pp-consent | Prohibition Partners | Records the cookie choice you made in the banner so we do not ask again, and so your choice is applied on every page. | 12 months |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe (on checkout.stripe.com) | Fraud prevention and completing your payment. These are set only while you are on Stripe’s hosted checkout page, which carries Stripe’s own cookie notice. Our own pages do not load Stripe scripts. | 1 year / 30 minutes |
Local storage we use without consent: pp-watchlist keeps the list of markets you have starred on the Cannabis Markets pages. It lives only in your browser and is never sent to us. On the order confirmation page, a short-lived session entry (pp-purchase-…) stops a purchase being counted twice in our analytics if you refresh the page; it is cleared when the tab closes.
Analytics — only with your consent
These help us understand which pages, market profiles and reports are read, so we can decide what to publish next. Reporting is aggregated; we do not use analytics to identify you personally.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
_ga | Google Analytics 4 (loaded through Google Tag Manager) | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps the state of your current visit (which pages were read in one session). | 2 years |
Marketing — only with your consent
We use HubSpot to run our newsletters and to follow up on briefing and sample requests. With your consent, HubSpot’s tracking cookie links the pages you visit to your contact record when you submit one of our forms, so that follow-up emails are relevant to what you have looked at.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
hubspotutk | HubSpot | Identifies your browser to HubSpot so that a form you submit is matched to your contact record. | 6 months |
__hstc, __hssc, __hssrc | HubSpot | Visit tracking for the same purpose: first visit, current visit and whether the browser session is new. | 6 months / 30 minutes / session |
We do not currently run advertising pixels (for example Google Ads or Meta) on this site. If that changes, this table and the consent banner will be updated before any such tag is added.
Newsletters and other marketing emails we send through HubSpot contain a tracking pixel and tagged links that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. You can stop this by unsubscribing using the link in any email, or by asking your email client not to load remote images.
The third parties involved
- Google (Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager) — policies.google.com/privacy
- HubSpot (forms, CRM and email) — legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy
- Stripe (payments) — stripe.com/privacy
Our website is hosted by Vercel, which sets no cookies of its own on this site.
How to control cookies
- On this site: use Cookie preferences in the footer to change or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics or marketing cookies being set; cookies already on your device can be removed through your browser.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, including on a per-site basis. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the consent banner from remembering your choice.
- Google Analytics: Google offers a browser add-on that prevents its analytics scripts from sending data — tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy whenever the cookies we use change, for example if a new analytics or advertising tool is added. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected in the consent banner, which will ask for your choice again.
